Garena Young Lions goalkeeper Hairul Syirhan and defender Amirul Adli are hopeful they can end the season on a victorious note when they take on Brunei DPMM FC at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday night.
In their two meetings this season, the Young Lions first held Brunei DPMM FC to a goalless draw in May before suffering a 7-1 reverse in Bandar Seri Begawan slightly over a month ago.
Despite a bad run of form since their 1-0 victory over Warriors FC in October, Hairul believes that the team will be able to overcome that.
He said: “The 0-0 draw against DPMM was a confidence booster for the team, as we got our first point of the season in that game. Hence, it’s possible for us to get something out of this game if we work as a team and stay disciplined throughout especially in defence.”
Agreeing with his teammate, Amirul commented: “I always believe in my team. The winning mentality will always be in our minds when approaching every game. The team has been working hard in every training throughout the season and we will of course give our best to end the season with a win.”
With the Young Lions not having the best of seasons, Amirul is heartened by the support he’s seen from the fans.
“I am deeply grateful and appreciative to our fans for being with us throughout the whole season despite our results. Honestly, they are our strength and they are one of the main reasons why we keep on going. I would like to also thank them for being patient and supportive towards us. Words cannot express my gratitude towards all of them.”
Hairul added: “Our 12th man have been amazing for us throughout, regardless of the result. They have always been there cheering us on and showing their support.
“So I would like to say a big thank you to them and I hope they will continue to support us in our last game to give us that extra boost to get the three points.”
Garena Young Lions will take on Brunei DPMM FC at 7.30pm at Jalan Besar Stadium on Saturday 18 November 2017.
