The Garena Young Lions will be meeting Hougang United FC at the Hougang Stadium on Friday night in the Great Eastern-Hyundai S.League, in what will be their third match in eight days.
The Young Lions are currently ninth in the table, while the Cheetahs are in sixth position on 20 points.
Both teams come into the match on the back of two losses – the Young Lions fell to league leaders Albirex Niigata FC (S) and Tampines Rovers FC, while the Cheetahs suffered defeats to Geylang International FC and Tampines as well.
Head Coach Vincent Subramaniam feels that his charges will learn from their experience in the previous matches.
“It has been a difficult three months for most of these boys and I had to lift up their spirits and motivate them although there is still a lot of work to do. We definitely can learn some lessons from them (Albirex),” said Coach Vincent after their match against Albirex.
“We lost 4-0 but we know what went wrong and I believe the team will get better. Hopefully the boys can recover and put up a better performance,” surmised the former National Team coach following their encounter with the Stags.
The 62-year-old chalked up the loss to Tampines to fatigue and poor defence, adding that the team will continue to work on their defence for the rest of the season.
The match will kick off at Hougang Stadium at 7.30pm on Friday 15 September 2017.
